Family

Bart's parents are Robert Wheeler and Elaine Strobridge Forbes. His elder sister is Susan Forbes Graham and younger sister is Linda Forbes Bridgeman. Father Bob and his two sisters all live in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. His mother died in April 2007. His nieces and nephew are scattered throughout the northeast: North Carolina, Maryland, West Virginia, and New York State. Yet they all seem to gather for important holidays and events! The Forbes family is of primarily Scottish descent and Bart is a member of the Clan Forbes Society. The ancestral home of Lord Forbes remains Castle Forbes in the Vale of Alford, Aberdeenshire.

Elaine Strobridge Forbes: May 22, 1928 to April 1, 2007
After living for eleven months in the Alzheimer's wing of the Newark, NY, DeMay Living Center, my mother passed away surrounded by her family. I've developed a slideshow of photographs of her life from high school until the last year of her life.

Jacquie & Jason's Wedding - 2004
Bart's eldest niece Jacqueline Graham married her college honey Jason Stanley on August 21, 2004. The wedding, of course, occurred in Morgantown, West Virginia, home of West Virginia University. Elder sister Sue and husband Ken Graham played host to a grand family event with parents Bob and Elaine Forbes; Sue's daughters Jacquie, Cheryl, and Beverly; and younger sister Linda Bridgeman's Chad and Colby (one of the bridemaids.)

Erie Canal Cruise: Bob & Elaine's 50th Anniversary
Instead of a big party, Bart's parents Bob and Elaine decided to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their immediate family by enjoying one of Central New York State's famous attractions -- the Erie Canal.
