Horseback Riding and Rodeo

Bart enjoys monthly horseback riding at the Piscataway Stables and spent a week at the Lazy E-L Ranch in Montana, helping with a cattle drive. He is Security Coordinator for the annual ASGRA Atlantic Stampede amateur rodeo and has competed in calf roping on foot and chutedogging. Plus, he rode his first bull at the recent ASGRA rodeo school!



Rodeo School 2007
Bart rode his first bull at the 2007 ASGRA rodeo school, as well as dogging a a few steer and roping some calves. Stalwart boyfriend Antonio was there to join in the training and record the video.

Atlantic Stampede 2005
After Bart completed the ASGRA rodeo school, he competed in calf roping and chutedogging in his first rodeo in September 2005. Since the original head of rodeo security was deployed to assist with search and rescue operations with Hurricane Katrina, a few days before the rodeo Bart has tapped to be head of rodeo security, as well. So he could only compete the second day of competition. Hero Unit Productions provided video coverage of the event and a clip of my chutedogging is included

Rodeo School 2005
Bart's best buddy Bill grew up on a horse ranch busting broncos and riding bulls. So they went to rodeos and eventually joined the Atlantic States Gay Rodeo Association (ASGRA) and went on the monthly trailrides. Bart attended the 2005 rodeo school to learn calf roping, chute-dogging (steer wrestling) and steer-riding. The Discovery Times cable television channel was videotaping the rodeo school as a part of its new program Only in America, hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter Charlie LeDuff.
